Lessons I Learned from the Smartest Woman I Know - My Mom Lesson #1

As we are growing up we never really appreciate the wisdom that our parents have. The older I get the smarter my mom has become so I wanted to share some of the lessons she taught me. My Mom always said "Noone may ever see the inside of your house, but EVERYONE sees the outside." How about that? My mom wasn't even a real estate agent and she knew the importance of curb appeal. I wish some of my neighbors had learned some of my mom's lessons. I live out in the country and about a half mile from where I live one neighbor likes to hang her laundry on the front porch. What a turnoff. And my next door neighbor has some fascination with his old cars. Whenever one quits running instead of getting rid of it he will get a new one and park the old one in the yard and proceed to fill it with junk. Too bad they didn't know my mom. She would have straightened them out with regards to their curb appeal. What jewels of wisdom did your mom or dad share that you have found to be useful?

Hi Teresa.  One of the things my mom always said was, to always let your overnight guests use the best bed in the house.   :)

My mom taught me manners never go out of style.. She would remind me by asking me...  What never goes out of style? I would get smart sometimes and say MONEY . But I will always remember that saying and of course the back side of her shoe! My kids know the saying now as well.

I was taught "when someone shows you who they are, believe them!"  Boy has that saved me a time or two.

Sounds like we all have some smart moms. I hope my daughter will always remember those life lessons I have tried to teach her. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for yout tasking the time to provide us with this information in the Active Rain network.  AR is the new "cyber backbone" of the industry, and with it's uplink to Localism.com it will transfrom the marketplace. Agents who don't see which way the cyberwind is blowing are going to find themselves at a considerable disadvantage inside of three to five years.
